Open Educational Resources

Open Educational Resources (OER) are "teaching, learning and research materials in any medium – digital or otherwise – that reside in the public domain or have been released under an open license that permits no-cost access, use, adaptation and redistribution by others with no or limited restrictions" (UNESCO/Hewlett Foundation).

Watch the video below to learn what Open Educational Materials (OERs) are in two minutes!

Here are the major search engines available for locating OERs.

These resources provide guidance on evaluating OERs for your courses.

Resources to help instructors who want to modify, remix, or adapt an existing OER, or author their own open content.

Are you wondering if the use of OERs has any impact on student learning or persistence? Check out this OER lit review, compiled by the BSC librarians!
