This guide offers resources on writing, including understanding your assignment, outlining, grammar, incorporating sources, and citing your sources.

APA Resources for Students

These resources supplement the guidelines in chapter 2 of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (2020) and the "Setting Up Your Paper in APA Format" section of the BSC Library's APA tutorial.

These resources supplement the guidelines in chapter 8 of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (2020) and the "Using In-Text Citations" section of the BSC Library's APA tutorial.

These resources supplement the guidelines in chapter 9 of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (2020) and the "Setting Up Your Reference List" section of the BSC Library's APA tutorial.

Looking at a sample paper written in APA Style can be very helpful to students. Take a look at one of these sample papers (or check out the sample paper at the end of chapter two in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association) to get more familiar with putting all of the different elements of APA Style together.

In addition to citation generators, many of the library's databases  (as well as Google Scholar) also feature "one-click" citations. However, it is the student's responsibility to check all automatically generated citations against the APA manual's official guidelines. Always use citation generators with caution!

Here are some of the most common questions the BSC Librarians receive on APA!

The APA Style Blog is another excellent resource for specific APA questions!

In addition to the BSC Library's APA tutorial, try one (or all) of these other APA tutorials. The more you learn about and quiz yourself on APA, the more efficient you will become in writing papers in APA Style!

Before you turn your paper in, try using an APA checklist to make sure you've followed all the standard APA guidelines. Always check the directions on your assignments to make sure your instructor doesn't have any special requirements that differ from the standard APA guidelines.
