February is Black History Month, and the BSC Librarians wanted to take this time to connect you to some resources on the Black experience throughout history.

Collections & Exhibits

1619 Project-New York Times initiative that explores the legacy of slavery in America today. Check out the podcast as well!

African History Month Resources--includes links to historical resources and online events; created by the Library of Congress with others

Black Past-Online reference site focused on the history of African Americans and people of African descent worldwide

Boston's Black Heritage Trail-Walking route that explores Boston's 19th century African American community. You can find a map of the route at NPS.gov

Museum of African American History--This museum focuses on preserving and explaining the contributions of  African Americans in New England. It has in-person exhibits in Boston and Nantucket as well as online exhibits! Check their website for hours and closures.

National Museum of African American History and Culture-Explore online collections, exhibitions, and events from this Smithsonian museum focused on documenting African American life, history, and culture.

National Museum of African American Music's Museum Without Walls-Check out special events and programs (many of which have recordings online) which explores and celebrate the influence of African Americans on music
